Here's some more food for thought

Are you feeling hounded by spirits assumedly benign or not, constantly demanding your time and draining your energy?

Can you think of any other relationships in your life that are also crossing boundaries and draining your energy?

Do you find yourself lacking the energy to do anything more than be on-call for others?

If we have draining relationships in our day to day life, you can bet your exhausted booty we got em in the spirit world as well.

When we feel powerless to change our world, we gotta find where we've been giving our power away in search of worth, vitality, and acceptance from others.

When draining or controlling connections have been our norm, we often won't see that there's any other option. In fact we often hold the belief that the better we can shoulder the weight, the stronger we are, the more admirable we are.

Shame and oppression like to disguise themselves as righteous self-sacrifice, humility, and kindness. They try to reason with us that keeping ourselves down is a praiseworthy thing. That acting as a doormat is what will in fact earn us the keys to the kingdom...but the keys never come y'all. That's the trick. Shame will have us forever in search of another master in hopes that they will finally be the one to grant us lasting worthiness and belonging.

It's an all too common thing to hear disempowered healers or psychics make statements about their connection and abilities as if it's their cross to bear. If we’re speaking of our gifts in such a way we sound enslaved to them— it’s time to check our footing and connection to our own hearts.

This kinda view unfortunately drives home the curse rather than a blessing mentality.

Einstein said, “There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle.”

Ya gotta trust your gut on this one because unfortunately where some people don’t develop their own integrity in their day to day lives, they progressively see themselves more as victims. Not speaking up for themselves or creating clear boundaries, and because energy needs somewhere to go, they end up going wild in metaphysical exchanges. Unleashing sides of themselves they can then blame on their spirit guides rather than recognizing denied aspects of their own identity and emotions. It’s no different than someone who is naturally reserved and quiet in day to day life allowing themselves to become outlandish and bold on stage.

Stepping into different roles can allow us to embody all kinds of aspects of ourselves we keep hidden- some are incredible while others may not be so friendly. It’s ok to recognize this and see where someone is using their position or influence in an unhealthy way. We can also tap into this to allow ourselves to see the beauty and power we deny ourselves for fear it

No one is perfect. We just try as best we can and with any luck, continue to improve on our practices and trades everyday. We all mess up and we’re all constantly learning.

My green light when working with other healing practitioners and spiritual teachers is- if they’re willing to acknowledge their own humanity, are quick to laugh at themselves, and accept their human faults without stomping their feet and pulling their hair? They’re a good melon.

If you don’t really vibe with someone and trust their character on a basic mundane level? You probably don’t need to ask their advice on metaphysical matters. They’re still the same person, they’re just reading from a different library.

And I wanna be real clear on this…it’s taken me decades and a lot of soured experiences to trust myself with this and not just call myself an asshole. This topic continues to come up more and more during sessions and with friends so I share this is in hopes that maybe you won’t be as hard on yourself as I’ve been.

Discernment is necessary. And anytime there’s positions of power or influence? There will unfortunately be people who use it for the wrong reasons.

The wrong people will have you running for the next fix, feeling wowed with them but not particularly anymore grounded and content in your own life. They may flatter you and tell you how powerful and special you are but somehow leave you feeling panicked and a little manic.

The right people for us walk through the miraculous with us and teach us to let it take root in our own lives and embody it in ourselves. They won’t help us avoid our pain, they may even invite us to sit with it, but they will show us how to trust in ourselves and the world again.

All of life is truly an unfolding and expanding into our divinity. We are constantly in a state of motion. Everything present in our lives, physical and nonphysical shows us exactly where we  are within ourselves, so if what is around us and within us doesn't feel like what we want forever, that's great! We’re getting our exact coordinates. We're meant to continue traveling. Nothing helps us get clear on what we do want like knowing what we don’t want.

The frightening things we may encounter in the spirit world, are the frightening things within ourselves and others heightened and amplified by a collective avoidance of pain and fear throughout the world. If  we are avoiding parts of ourselves, afraid that they will overpower us completely, we will often have the same apprehensions when it comes to the spirit world.

Picture the way the sun streams through a window in the late afternoon. Suddenly in the evening it appears that the air is FULL of floating pollen, pet dander, dust bunnies, etc. These particles have been floating through the air the whole time, it’s just that in this moment the way the light is hitting them, they’re now perfectly visible.

That’s basically how any extrasensory ability works.

Sometimes naturally, sometimes with practice, sometimes at the right time of day in the right light, we can all observe those metaphorical dust bunnies and sparkling particles. Those things surrounding us that usually go unnoticed.

It’s can be mind blowing and magic! But also… it’s about as normal as it gets. It doesn’t require goodness or holiness- it’s just another view.

This is going to become more and more important to remember as years go by. A century ago, someone with access to the internet might have been seen as a God simply because they had access to so many people and so much information at their fingertips.

But obviously accessibility to a Google search has nothing to do with someone’s morals or character right?

This is why being in touch with our own hearts and trusting our own instincts is so vital.

More and more not only through technology but tapping into natural human abilities, people will access incredible things— but power and information is not synonymous with good intention.

The roots we want to grow in ourselves and feel for in others is that we own this power to accept and love all the parts of ourselves so we can hold that same love and compassion for others.

That is where the need to control others is unnecessary and the urges to practice kindness, compassion, and playful resolution is only natural.

Darkness itself is not a bad thing at all. The darkness is a space of creation and opportunity of infinite possibilities.

What remains in the dark unwilling to evolve is the illustration of what happens when growth and life is avoided. When the Self and accountability is avoided. Very much like a swift moving stream that supplies fresh water, if it reaches a place of stagnation and ceases to move, it can become toxic and parasitic where it was once hydrating and life giving.

It's no different for us as human beings. It is when movement stops that fear thrives and life begins to warp and become a pattern of pain avoidance rather than living. Where energy or emotions becomes stuck, it creates illness and pain. When we experience pain, whether physical or nonphysical, we may create a persona and patterns to avoid fully experiencing it.

Picture if you were mowing your lawn and rather than stopping to pick up a small rock, you just mowed around it, leaving a small circle of uncut grass higher than the rest where the rock sat. Week after week year after year you continue mowing around that same little rock and the border around that tiny rock becomes more and more defined and the grass and weeds grow so tall and thick your neighbors begin creating stories about what wild hidden thing is in that mini jungle in your front yard.

Nope. Just a rock.

But the more we circle things the more a path is defined, the more edges are formed, the more they necome a thing unto themselves. And unknown things? Things with mystery? We either hold with a sense of wonder or fear.

When we perceive and experience dark energies or entities, I believe we are witnessing unresolved and avoided pain from within ourselves and the world made manifest. They are avoided rocks, stagnant dense energies that never evolved. They will feel sickening, depressive, heavy, and paralyzing. This is why I believe many entities are described as darker than dark. They are not only devoid of light but avoid it. We learned to mow around them and they learned that they are to be feared, avoided, and abandoned at all costs—so the relationship remains the same. Their borders and form become more and more defined and we spend our lives working around them while they grow taller.

But when we turn to face them we bring movement and attention to those places, they sometimes begin to dissolve right in front of our eyes.

We bring movement by asking questions of our fears. Getting them to elaborate, sit up in their chairs and say what it is they're so insistent on squawking about. By opening up this dialogue, we have opened a channel of movement. Now it's no longer a siren ringing in the distance, or a shadow figure looming over our shoulder where our minds can build on that fear.

Now what was an eye sore and source of anxiety becomes a space for exploration and conversation.

Things cannot find a home in us where there is no longer a room for them to stay. We are the landlords and we get to ask our tenants aaaaaall the questions and lay down aaaaaaall the rules.

Think about an awful fight you've gotten into with someone that went unresolved and left space where there was no communication, how quickly the anger and judgement could build. You may have lost sleep and energy focusing on your outrage. The longer you avoided sitting down and talking, the more it might've taken over your life, the worse you made it out to be. But then the moment you sat down with them and discussed your side and heard theirs, even if the relationship came to an end? The thing that was eating away at you finally evolves into smaller bite size pieces and begins to digest. Fears and misunderstandings get blown way out of proportion all the time simply from being avoided.

Our minds create mountains out of molehills and ten foot monsters out of squeaking mice.

What remains unresolved and unaddressed inside us will begin tugging at our shirt like a child. It will manifest as feelings of disempowerment, illness, or fear in our day to day lives where we can see it waving its arms to get our attention whether we recognize its true form or not. No matter how huge or terrifying our demons may seem, it's often the avoidance that makes them appear ten feet tall and all powerful.

The more we turn to face our fears and open the dialogue, we're not so easily controlled and overpowered. When we aren't afraid to look obstacles in the eye from our own seat of authority and say, "Excuse me, but I see you hiding over there and it would appear you're quite disgruntled. May I help you with something?"
